As a passionate and experienced photographer, I bring a unique blend of technical expertise, creative insight, and a deep understanding of what it takes to create stunning images. With seventeen years experience in teaching photography classes I also know how to successfully communicate those skills.
1. Practical Expertise and Experience
• I have 40+ years of hands-on experience in photography, working across various genres such as portrait, landscape, event, and product photography for companies world wide.
• My knowledge spans from mastering camera settings and how to apply the craft, to advanced Adobe Photoshop processing techniques, ensuring students learn both the technical and artistic aspects of photography.
2. Private classes only in the Fundamentals and Photoshop
• I tailor my teaching to the skill levels and goals of each student, whether they are beginners looking to understand their camera and the basics or advanced learners seeking to refine their craft.
• My approach focuses on breaking down complex concepts into easy to understand, actionable steps.
3. Interactive and Engaging Classes
• These classes are designed for the individual on how they learn and their goals combining theory with practical assignments to ensure students gain real-world experience.
• Through guided photo shoots, critiques, and creative challenges, I create an environment of exploration and growth.
4. Focus on Creative Development in the Visualization and Contemplative classes
• I encourage students to develop their unique style and perspective by exploring creative composition, storytelling, and artistic techniques.
I encourage my students to try new things, accept the well earned successes and what to learn when there are “issues”.
• These classes go beyond technical skills to inspiring students to see the world through a photographer’s artistic eye.
5. Comprehensive Curriculum: My beginner classes cover a wide range of topics, including:
Mastering camera settings (ISO, shutter speed, aperture, file formats).
Understanding lighting and its impact.
Composition and framing techniques.
Post-processing and organizing photographs using Adobe Bridge and Adobe Photoshop.
How to build a quality digital slide show, create quality reprints and / or a professional portfolio portfolio
6. Supportive Learning Environment
• I prioritize creating a positive and encouraging space where students feel comfortable asking questions, experimenting, and making mistakes as they learn.
• I offer ongoing support and mentorship, helping students progress even after the class ends.
7. Real-World Applications
• I integrate real-world scenarios into the lessons, teaching students how to handle challenges like difficult lighting, fast-paced environments..
• Whether students want to pursue photography professionally or as a hobby, my classes equip them with skills they can immediately apply.
8. Proven Results
• Students have learned these new skills and gained confidence in their abilities to explore this wonderful art form and gone on to capture exceptional images. I have included the less favorable reviews because, as I make mistakes, I make changes I learn what works and what doesn’t . (Link for Student reviews)
By taking a photography class with me, students are not only investing in learning technical skills but also in discovering their creative potential. I am dedicated to helping each student to achieve their photography goals, whether it’s to take better photos for personal satisfaction or build a career in the field.
Pablo Picasso famously said: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
