Leaning to see is a process that is unique to each individual, shaped by their experience and how they feel and interact with the world around them on that particular day time.

The intention of this class is to help the student learn to slow down, see and create a photograph that is unique to them using the basics of art and design and their own creative voice.

Students must have a good understanding of how to use the manual functions of their camera - controlling exposure and depth of field are key creative tools.

The goal is always to: slow down, stop, take a couple of seconds, think about the image you imagined and then use the your craft skills to make the image real.

The open foreground created an unbalanced photograph. The fence reduced the visual weight of that foreground as does the tree in the top right reduces the weight of the open sky. The fence, the barn, the open sky and the tree create a circular dynamic that drives the eye.
